Josh Erickson

Founder, President & Chief Technology Officer

Josh is a founder of Stratix Labs and currently serves as its President and Chief Technology Officer. Josh has experience inventing and developing novel microbiology products for laboratory, medical device, and pharmaceutical applications. His prior experience includes roles as a project leader and product developer at high-caliber companies such as 3M, Rebiotix, and Medivators. In his prior roles Josh has created significant value by inventing and developing high-potential products with special attention to the intersection of business, science, and customer needs. Josh is the inventor of 3 issued patents and numerous pending patent applications.

Josh earned a Master of Science degree in Microbial Engineering from University of Minnesota in 2014, where he collaborated with Ecolab to design novel biofilm growth devices and test methods to improve product development efficiencies. Josh earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Oral Roberts University in 2011. 

Mark Mulvahill

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Mark Mulvahill is a founder of Stratix Labs and currently serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Mark has experience evaluating investment and acquisition opportunities in corporate and university tech transfer settings, with a primary focus on biological and chemical based technologies. Prior to Stratix Labs, Mark founded Loewi LLC to develop intellectual property around novel drug delivery technologies. Loewi LLC assigned its IP portfolio to a commercial stage pharmaceutical company.

Mark is a Fulbright scholar in chemistry, Explorers Club grantee, and Fulbright-Hays grantee with a focus on antimicrobial drug discovery, as well as a registered patent agent with the USPTO (registration #78144). He earned an MBA from the Carlson School of Management University of Minnesota in 2017 with a specialization in healthcare. Mark earned a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of the South Pacific in 2017 for research conducted during his Fulbright scholarship, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Denver in 2012. Mark currently serves as a Board Member of the Medical Industry Leadership Institute Affiliates, UMN Carlson School of Management.

Robert Ziebol

Serial Entrepreneur & Investor

Bob Ziebol has over 30 years of experience in building high-tech, medical device and life-science companies. He helped build over a dozen companies, including seven in which he was a founder. He is passionate about companies that bring highly-desirable breakthrough products to the market, with a focus on building high quality teams and processes to reduce the risks that are inherent in first-to-market ventures. Of the companies he founded, six out of seven have produced a positive return on investment, including Pursuit Vascular, which was acquired by ICU Medical in November 2019.

Bob holds 42 patents and he has degrees in electrical engineering and physics. He is a successful private-equity investor and he enjoys serving on boards of high-potential companies.

Mark Marlow

Founder, President & Managing Partner at Omphalos Venture Partners LLC

Mark has 25 years' experience managing venture capital and serving as CFO in both private and public companies. As CFO Mark helped found 2 startup companies, Wam!Net and Virtual Radiologic Corporation. As CFO he completed highly successful NASDAQ IPO's for both with Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. Mark currently serves as President of Omphalos Ventures Partners a Minneapolis based Venture fund that has successfully invested in dozens of early-stage companies in medical device, agricultural automation, material sciences and green energy technology.

Mary Jo Baarsch, PhD

Owner at Gaviidae Consulting, LLC

Mary Jo has over 20 years of experience working in the life sciences, helping companies develop products for animals and people. She has a PhD in microbiology, a business degree, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota. Mary Jo has worked for major corporations including Pfizer and SmithKline Beecham in various research-related roles. After establishing her own consulting company in 2000 (BioInsight, now Gaviidae Consulting), she was engaged by both small and mid-sized biotechnology companies and the United States government to perform a variety of services including strategic planning, project management, licensing and contract negotiations, and portfolio valuations. Mary Jo also has leadership experience and was hired as COO of Syntiron to lead a research and development team of 25 scientists with a multi-million dollar budget and P&L responsibilities to develop vaccines of global significance. From 2016 to 2018, Mary Jo was VP of Biologics for Pharmgate Animal Health to develop and manufacture veterinary vaccines. As adjunct professor with the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, Mary Jo remains involved with veterinary and graduate student education.
